This is a bit of a throwback Thursday on a Friday.
Yes. That totally makes sense!
We love getting outdoors with Jesse. And he absolutely LOVES it! Crawling in the grass… the fresh air… the wonderful new smells and sights… It must be like a sensory overload for him.
And now that it’s getting a little bit cooler, I imagine us getting outdoors a lot more often!
Autumn in Queensland = Love!
With only a few days of Summer left there is no sign of it cooling down any time soon.
After a particularly hot and sweaty morning of Kangatraining, Jesse and I headed over to Nanny’s to test out the new baby pool she bought him.
We pulled it out of the box, pumped it up and promptly heard a loud hissing sound. Brand new and it had a hole in it! Not be be deterred, mum pulls out the sticky tape and in a ‘Big Hero 6’ like manner we taped up the hole and headed outside to fill it up.
Jesse and I had a lovely time cooling down and having a splash together.
Last Friday, we packed our bags… Left the dog in the capable hands of Renee’s parents… Picked up Renee’s sister Lia and left for a plane headed to Melbourne.
It would be Jesse’s second trip to Melbourne in as many weeks! So needless to say, he was pretty excited.
We didn’t get much video footage while we were down there, but we got plenty of photos. And wow, what perfect weather to take photos. Melbourne really turned it on for us with glorious days the whole time we were down there.
Jesse had a blast. We had a blast. Lia and her boyfriend Matt had a blast…
We can’t wait to go back!

So this past week in the Barton household has been a tough one.
We’ve had teething issues… We’ve had high temperatures… We’ve had heat rash… We’ve had loss of appetite… We’ve had uncontrollable crying… We’ve had tantrums… We’ve had pushing bottles away… We’ve had up the backers…
We’ve had a cranky, tired, unsettled bubba who was quite obviously not dealing with the nasty effects of teething.
All that said though, when he falls asleep… He still looks like the cutest, most peaceful, wonderful little man I ever lay eyes on!
We can’t wait for the poor little guy to get through this rough patch, getting back to his usual, happy go lucky self.

So we decided to get out and about with Jesse last night. Mostly for some Christmas shopping, but also to get the obligatory ‘baby with Santa’ shot.
And so here it is… Jesse with Santa. Looking up at him wondering who he is exactly.
It was actually pretty cute seeing him on Santa’s knee for the first time in his life. And despite all our and the staff’s efforts to get his attention, he just wouldn’t cooperate with a smile or a glimpse in our direction.
Santa’s beard is just too interesting!
We had a bit of a chuckle about it afterwards and also thought hey, at least he wasn’t screaming in full tantrum mode like some babies in their photo with Santa.
The start of another Christmas tradition.

This week we decided to start Jesse on solids….well, if you can call purée a solid.
Five months may be a little early if you ask the ‘experts’ but he has been giving us all the signs that he was ready for more than a liquid diet.
So we started off with something basic. Some organic pumpkin and swede boiled and blitzed with a little breast milk for added goodness.
And well, we think he liked it.

This adorable outfit is a gift from Jesse’s (fake) Aunty Sarah.
My best friend came to stay with us for a few nights this week as she had been suffering from Vertigo recently and, being unable to drive, needed a change of scenery from her four walls.
It was lovely to have her join our little family for a few days and Jesse looks incredibly cute in this outfit which was inspired by story time.
